Tom Portante offers 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and in technology and management consulting. He focuses on results and his expertise is helping clients discover technology-based business opportunities.

Tom has created two startup companies, HowZabout.com and ConceptLabs.net. He has worked for global management consultancies Ernst & Young and Accenture with Global 100 clients including Ford Motor Company, Barclays Bank, Daimler/Chrysler and Microsoft. He has also held a number of senior research and development positions at Seybold Computing, Coopers & Lybrand, Fidelity Investments and Irving Trust Bank.

Tom received Doctoral training in Social Anthropology form McGill University of the University of Edinburgh, giving him a unique perspective on how organizations can adopt and adapt new social computing tools.

As an observer of technology trends, Tom has been quoted in The New York Times, Wired, Atlantic Monthly, Harper's, and the World Economic Forum. He continues to write about collaborative technologies and, as a co-founder of Guildsmiths.com, offers technology counsel to small organizations who need to assess the value of Enterprise 2.0 tools and processes.
